DESCRIPTION: A Boynton, Boston (attributed) lyre banjo weight driven time only wall clock, mahogany case with carved throat, c1837
CONDITION: the case has been refinished and the throat tablet has been replaced (bottom tablet is original); top finial is a replacement. The dial was repainted maybe 50 years ago, and aging nicely. Has barbed hands. There is a piece of missing veneer on the lower left return, and various dry splits in the case. The movement appears original to the case. Center lyre section is held to the case sides with 2 large screws {original}. An old paper note inside makes the attribution to Boynton. Ht 40"
